Port or No Port...That is the Question??!!

Good morning! Well we were on the road to going home this morning...sometime after 9am and at 6:30 this am Ryan and I were awaken by a team of surgeons telling us Ryan was their second case of the morning to have a port put in. This is all after yesterday being told she was not having it put in because her "counts" were too low. A port is a way to access her for IV fluids, Chemo, or antibiotics. It is just under the surface of her skin and will allow her to take baths/showers normally and even go swimming. As of right now we are not sure if she is going in to surgery to have it put or not??!! Of course...of all mornings to wake up hungry she picks this one, poor girl. I will keep everyone posted. Love to you all!!!

Dear Ryan:

(I left this on your carepage too but not sure if you are still checking that so I'll repost it here )
You don't know me but I am your Grandpa's Joe's cousin all the way from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania! Your Great Aunt Diane emailed me and my sisters to tell us that you have been sick so we have been praying for you every day and sending lots of hugs to you so you can get better soon. We see your Grandpa Joe every year at Christmas time in Michigan. We haven't seen your mom in lots of years but a long time ago she came to Pittsburgh to my oldest sister's wedding! I think she was only 16 years old! Maybe someday we will meet - I have a daughter that is 2 1/2 years old named Caileigh (just like your cousin Kaeli from Michigan!). And she has lots of cousins just like you.

I'll be checking your care page and your blog to see how you are doing. And we'll keep praying for you and your family!

Love from Pittsburgh!
Sheila, John & Caileigh Duffy (a Burke sister :))
